Description:

 Assistant Manager

 

Assist Store Manager in managing and promoting all aspects of the business: buying, selling, pricing, and merchandising, assistance with staff recruitment, training, development and report analyzation.  Promote a high level of customer service and involvement, aspire for further company growth, continually strive for innovative solutions and alternatives in bettering the business.

 

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1.  Assist with buying, selling, pricing, ticketing and merchandising by adhering to merchandising standards, evaluating market demands, adhering to buying plan, managing stock and sales levels, and meeting or exceeding store sales goals and purchase goals.

 

 2.   Assist in maintaining all controllable expenses within established budgetary guidelines.  Process all billing, invoices and related documents, to insure vendors and service providers are paid within appropriate time frame

 

 3.   Assist with determining personnel requirements based on season and store schedule; assist with staff recruitment and interviewing.  Train, and evaluate current staff as assigned throughout all stages of their development.  Use all training checklists, guides and testing materials.  Recertify all staff buyers every 6 months.

 

 4.   Participate in store training program

 

 5.  Familiarize yourself and staff with product merchandise and brand names.  Seek out opportunity to buy used goods, closeouts, liquidation’s, etc.

 

 6.  Assist in the establishment and monitoring of appropriate security procedures including computer cash register, inventory management and open/close procedures.  Prepare and make daily bank deposits.

 

 7.  Promote, coach and role model superior customer service to all customers, every day.  Insure that all store associates understand and support the pursuit of superior service and our non-negotiable standards.

 

8. Restock store following merchandising plan.  Maintain store displays and follow store housekeeping and maintenance standards and procedures.  Assign and complete all projects on the daily floor plan.

 

 9. Monitor employee hours in relationship to sales and make cuts or additions if necessary. Staff scheduling and forethought may be necessary if staff illness or otherwise should arise. Attendance as a assistant manager is mandatory unless you find a management replacement for your shift. 

 

 10.  Monitor and encourage through positive communication staff performance and productivity.  Maintaining accurate recordings in the manager log of sales, staff performance, customers situations, and repair and maintance issues.

 

 11.  Insure all inventory functions are completed as directed, including regular inventory counts.  Insure merchandise receiving and ticketing occur in a timely manner, so that merchandise can be processed to the selling floor for sale.  Back stock inventory needs to be organized, rotated and dated to insure oldest merchandise is brought out to the sales floor first.

 

 12.  Complete any additional assignments as directed by the store manager or owner.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

1.  Post high school education preferred.

2.  1-year prior retail management experience or 3-4 years prior retail sales experience preferred with strong leadership skills exhibited.

3.  Sales and goal-oriented.

4.  Must successfully complete LEADS certification.

5.  Strong organizational and time management skills are crucial importance.

6.  Proven customer service skills and strong interpersonal and communications skills required.

7.  Must be computer literate.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1.  Ability to stand and walk for lengthy periods of time (8 hours).

2.  Lifting up to 40 lbs. unassisted.

3.  Bending, rotating, reaching conducive to a retail environment.

4.  Must be able to operate a computerized sales terminal.

5.  Must be able to meet and maintain productivity and production standards established by Plato’s Closet.

6.  No exposure to hazardous materials or environments.

We are seeking a shift supervisor that is energetic, honest, reliable & customer service oriented to help promote all aspects of the business:  buying, selling, pricing, and merchandising.  Promote a high level of customer service ensuring customers are assisted in an enthusiastic, timely, and knowledgeable manner. In the absence of the Store Manager and the Assistant Manager, the Shift Supervisor will run the daily store operations, including the buying of used product, direction of staff along with opening/closing procedures.

 

 

Shift Supervisor will be expected to perform management duties when needed. Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments, and be able to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business.

 

Responsibilities include all aspects of store operations from buying, selling, training and merchandising.  Must be computer literate and have retail or customer service experience.  Being Fashionable with a knowledge of labels, styles, and trends a must!  Must be able to work nights & weekends.  18-30 hrs per week (could be full-time based on store volume)
